Ulrich’s Tavern reopens after taxes settled

Ulrich’s Tavern has officially reopened.

A month after being abruptly shut down by the state for back taxes, the iconic Buffalo tavern and restaurant held a bar only reopening party Tuesday sponsored by Flying Bison Brewery.

Ulrich’s filed for bankruptcy Aug. 23, with a list of creditors including the state Department of Taxation Finance, which was owed $205,000,

A 2011 tax return included in the filing showed Ulrich’s operated at a loss of $20,

Ulrich’s is considered the oldest continuously running bar in Buffalo, first established in 1868. Daley’s parents ran the business starting in the 1950s,
